Brendan Hickey, better known as DJ Hicks, is a Drum & Bass artist whose journey began in Slough, where his passion for underground music was sparked at just 13 years old. Captivated by the raw energy of pirate radio, he spent countless hours tuning into stations like Green Apple FM, immersing himself in the sounds that would shape his future.
By the age of 16, Hicks had secured his first set of turntables and dedicated himself fully to mastering the craft. Driven by a clear ambition to one day play on pirate radio himself, he put in relentless hours of practice, refining his mixing skills and developing a deep understanding of jungle and Drum & Bass.
His persistence paid off as he broke into the scene with appearances on respected stations such as Pointblank FM and Creative FM. From there, he went on to secure residencies at well-known events including Sub Factory in Reading and Revolution, establishing himself as a versatile and committed DJ with a strong connection to the dancefloor.
After stepping away from the scene to explore other paths, Hicks has now made a long-awaited return, bringing with him the same passion and dedication that first drove him. With over two decades away, his love for Drum & Bass remains as strong as ever, and his sound reflects both experience and renewed energy.
Now joining the Different Drumz family, Hicks is focused on delivering sets that blend soulful Drum & Bass with deeper, darker elements, creating a dynamic and emotive journey for listeners. Grateful for the opportunity to be back behind the decks, he continues to push forward, reconnecting with the music that started it all.
